Carroll Herald - April 23, 1902 - Herald readers will regret to.learn of the death by suicide of John W. Anson of Glidden which occurred last night. Mr. Anson has a relative in Glidden and was stopping there overnight. Late yesterday he went into the store of McNaught & Sons and bought a revolver.

Later he went to this barn and with the weapon shot himself. A coroner's jury was empaneled last evening and rendered a verdict in accordance with these facts.

Deceased was 62 years old, an old soldier, owned a good farm in Richland township, had money in the bank, and was thought to be contented with his lot.
