August 16, 1932 - Carroll Daily Herald - William H. Cox, a resident of the Glidden community for 55 years, died at his home northeast of Glidden yesterday at one o'clock. Mr. Cox, who has been ill a number of years with rheumatism was not in a serious condition until a week ago when complications set in.
Mr. Cox was born April 3, 1856, and was 76 years old at the time of his death. He was married to Ellen Telfer in Jasper county in 1877, and following their marriage they came to Glidden where he began farming.
To this couple was born four children: Bert L. Cox, Mrs. Herbert Harshbarger, Mrs. Harry Dierks, and Mrs. Floyd Wright, all of Glidden.
Besides his widow and children, Mr. Cox is survived by four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, three brothers: Frank of Glidden, David of Newburg, George of Fedura, S.D., and four sisters: Mrs. Henry Dreesen and Mrs. John Spurgeon of Lake City, Mrs. Arthur McClurg of Scranton, and Mrs. Mary Stewart of Fargo, N.D.
Funeral services will be held in the Presbyterian church tomorrow at 2 p m. The Rev. William D. Jones will officiate. Burial will be made in the Westlawn cemetery.
