June 19, 1924 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Barney Bolster died at her home Friday afternoon at 4:25 o'clock after less than a week's illness with heart trouble. She was not feeling well the Saturday before her death and continued to feel badly for several days. On Thursday a trained nurse was called in attendance but she grew steadily worse and passed away Friday afternoon.

In the death of Mrs. Bolster one of the good women has been removed from the community. She was an ardent church worker, being a member of the S.S. Peter and Paul church. She was also a member of the Rosary society and had been an officer of this organization for a long period of years. Mrs. Bolster was a great home woman, but also liked outside interests and belonged to several social clubs of the city. She enjoyed herself to the utmost during the social meetings of these clubs and was a general favorite with the members.

Mrs. Bolster was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Chris Werner, and was born in St. Mary's, Penn., December 27, 1853. When a year old she came with her parents to Festina, Winneshiek county, where she grew to young womanhood and was married to Barney Bolster, February 22, 1876, at St. Lucas, Ia. After living at St. Lucas for a time they moved to Danbury. From there they went to Salem, S.D., where they resided on a farm. They then moved to Charter Oak and located in Carroll in 1890, which has since been their home.

One daughter, Barbara, was born to Mr. and Mrs. Bolster, who with the husband survives. She is also survived by six sisters: Mrs. John Rausch of Ft. Atkinson, Ia.; Mrs. Henry Kruse of Ft. Atkinson, Ia.; Mrs. Henry Bolster of St. Cloud, Minn.; Mrs. Frank Funke of Cottonwood, Idaho; Miss Rose Werner of Ravenna, NE; and Mrs Joe Huinker of Festina, IA. The funeral service was held Monday morning at 9 o'clock in the S.S. Peter and Paul church. Rev. Fr. Dries was the celebrant. Interment was made in the S.S. Peter and Paul cemetery.
