March 7, 1918 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Mike Beyer, one of the highly respected women of this vicinity passed away at her home Wednesday evening, February 27, after an illness of but eight hours. She was taken sick at about half past one that day with a hemorrhage of the brain, and after intense suffering died that evening.

The funeral was held Saturday morning, March 2, from S.S. Peter and Paul's church, of which she was a devout member. The Ladies' Sodality, to which she belonged, attended in a body.

Mrs. Beyer, nee Katherine Wieland, was born in Germany in 1851 and as a young woman came to America in company with an uncle and other relatives in 1873. On the 18th of August, 1874, she was united in marriage to Mike Beyer. They made their home in Clinton county near Lyons, for twelve years when they moved to Carroll county and farmed for 16 years. Since that time they have been living in their present home in the Third ward.

Twelve children were born to Mr and Mrs. Beyer. Of these three preceded their mother in death, Frank died in 1894, at the age of one year, Michael passed away in 1896 and Lena, Mrs. Schroeder, passed away over three years ago.

The following children and the father survive: Joseph, of Carroll; Marian, Mrs. Frank Schulte, of Fulda, Minnesota; Lizzie, Mrs. B.H Schroeder, of Carroll; John, of Carnarvon; George, of Maple River; Nicholas, of Carroll; Catherine, at home; Theresa, at home, and Sarah of La Crosse.
