Lawrence J. Hoffman
Lawrence J. Hoffman died at his home in Willey Thursday, May 1, after suffering for some time with heart trouble. The funeral was held Monday morning at Willey. He was born at Lancaster, New York, Feb. 6, 1853 and came to Iowa with his parents in 1866. In 1873 he came to Carroll County and located in Pleasant Valley township, where he has since made his home.
He was united in marriage to Miss Anna Kennebeck and nine children were born to this union—6 boys and three girls. One daughter, Susan, died last fall and the other 8 with their mother survive. The children are as follows: Frances (Mrs. Ferguson, S.D.); Carl, of Seattle, Wash.; Florence, Pleasant Valley; Henry, in France; Rudolph, Pleasant Valley; Albert, of Willey; Amanda and Edward at home.
Mr. Hoffman was a member of the Catholic church, a good citizen and neighbor, and his death is mourned by his family and many friends.
