Jan 26, 1911 - Carroll Times - Last Saturday at the home of her son, Cyrus M., occurred the death of Mrs. Eliza Jane Mohler after a very short illness of neuralgia of the heart. She was enjoying apparent good health up to within a very short time previous to her death. In her demise Carroll county loses one of its most highly respected and beloved pioneer citizens. She had been a resident of this county 38 years but the last four years she had made her home with her son in Lake View. She was a member of the Methodist church and was one of the charter members of the local church. She was much devoted to church work and especially in the missionary line. Her death comes a severe blow to her many friends here who extend their sympathy to the bereaved family in their hours of sorrow.

Eliza Jane Barclay was born October 8, 1836, in Franklin county, Pennsylvania. In 1855 she was united in marriage to Isaac Mohler at Mt. Vernon, Iowa. To this union were born four children which survive a loving mother as follows: John Barclay Mohler of Carroll; Cyrus Millard Mohler of Lake View; Mrs. Jessie Seville Wasmund of Grangeville, Idaho; and Charles Keagle Mohler of Chicago, Illinois. There survive her also three brothers and five sisters.

The funeral services were held from the house at Lake View Sunday afternoon after which the remains were brought to Carroll and services were held from the M.E. church Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock. The remains were then laid to rest in their final resting place in the Carroll cemetery. A large concourse of mourning relatives and friends attended the last sad rites over the beloved woman.

Mohler, Chicago, Illinois; Thomas Barclay, Bethany, Missouri; Mrs. Elizabeth Ridenour, Paton, Iowa; Mrs. Jennie M. Halsted, Fairfax, South Dakota; Miss Emma E. Beechel Laurel, Nebraska; Charley H.Beechel and wife, Adaze, Iowa; Mrs. Cora J Ross and husband of Des Moines.
