Sept 12, 1985 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs Estyl Merrill Wright, 92, of 126 West Eighth street, widow of the late Robert A. Wright of Carroll, died Thursday, September 12, at St.Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll after a brief illness. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, September 14, at Trinity Episcopal church with the Rev. Larry Gatrel officiating. Mrs. K.K. Holley will be organist. Burial will be in the Carroll cemetery. Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll alter 7 p.m. Friday. A prayer service for family and friends will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. A memorial fund in Mrs. Wright's memory has been established for Trinity Episcopal church.

Mrs Wright is survived by two grandsons: John Siefert and his wife Bonnie, Key Biscayne, Fla.; and Robert Siefert and his wife Nancy, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and three great grandsons: Justin, John and Phillip III.

Mrs Wright was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert A. Wright on April 14, 1984, a son Phillip Merrill Siefert and a daughter-in-law Liza Siefert.

Mrs Wright was born at Mount Carmel, Iowa on July 9, 1892, a daughter of Mr and Mrs. C.C. Merrill. Before her marriage to Mr. Wright on March 26, 1941, in Chicago, she worked for Lord & Taylor in New York City. She was active in Carroll community affairs. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal church, the church Ladies Guild, was a past regent of Priscilla Alden Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, was a past president of Des Moines chapter, No. 16, of the Colonial Dames of America. She was a member and past president of the Carroll Clio Club, was one of the founders of the St. Anthony Regional Hospital Auxiliary, was past president of the Carroll County Republican Women and the Friends of the Carroll Public Library.

She was also one of the founders of the Order of the Knoll of Iowa State University, and was a member of the Carroll Country club. She and her husband established the Robert A. and Estyl Wright Memorial Scholarship fund for Carroll High School.
