March 6, 1956 - Carroll Daily Times - Death claimed Frederick H Culbertson, 76, of Carroll at 7:30 Tuesday morning at a hospital in St. Clarles, Mo. He succumbed to a long illness. Mr Culbertson had gone to St Charles in the late fall to visit his son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs Robert W Beste, and family. The body is being brought Tuesday to the Huffman funeral Home here. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.

Mr Culbertson, a life long resident of Carroll, had been in the grain business here. He had been associated with his father, R.Y. Culbertson and also with the late W.C. Parsons before going into business for himself. While in semi-retirement, he was a popcorn contractor.

Mr Culbertson and his deceased wife were members of well known Carroll families. Mrs Culbertson, who was Maria E Park before her marriage, died Sept 4, 1952.

Mr Culbertson is survived by his daughter, Mrs Beste (Helen Adelaide) of St Charles, MO; one son, Frederick P Culbertson, Carroll; two grandchildren: Barbara and Robert Beste; and his mother-in-law Mrs. E.C. Park of Carroll.

He was preceded is death by his parents; a sister, Mrs F.H. Cooney (Clara), who died a year ago today; and one brother.

March 10,1956 - Carroll Daily Times - Funeral services were conducted at the Huffman Funeral Home at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon for Frederick Hayes Culbertson, 76, lifelong resident of Carroll, who died at 6:15 am Tuesday, March 6, in St. Joseph's Hospital at St. Charles, Mo. The home was filled with relatives and friends.

Burial was in the Carroll City Cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert A Wright, Glen Weeks, Louis M Gnam, Dr Stanton L Sherman, John T Anderson, and Ralph McCord. Mr Culbertson had been spending the winter with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr and Mrs. Robert W Beste, and family at St Charles. His death followed a month's illness. Mr and Mrs Beste and daughter, Barbara attended the funeral services. Among out of town friends present were Wayne Cooney and Mr and Mrs George Keeley of Coon Rapids.

Mr Culbertson was born May 16, 1879 in Richland Township Carroll county, a son of Robert Y and Henrietta Bell Culbertson. After his graduation from Carroll High School, he attended Bayles Business Collegte in Omaha. He married to Marian Edith Park in the home of her parents, Mrs Edith C and the late D.H. Park, June 16, 1909 in Carroll. Mrs Culbertson died Sept 4, 1952.

Surviving are his daughter, Mrs Beste (Helen Adelaide) St Charles, MO; son Frederick Park Culbertson, Carroll; two grandchildren, Barbara and Robert Beste; his mother-in-law, Mrs E.C. Park; and brother-in-law, Judge F.H. Cooney, Carroll.

Besides his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Frank Culbertson, and a sister Mrs Cooney (Clara B).

Mr Culbertson, who was formerly in the grain business here had operated a collection service in recent years. He was a member of the Episcopal church. Formerly he had been a member of the Iowa National Guard.
