Death of Daniel Wenck
Daniel John Wenck died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Leo Carver, Tuesday afternoon after being unconscious since Monday morning. He had been in poor health for a number of years. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home and at 2:30 services will be held at the Carroll Lutheran church. Rev. A.J. Mueller will be in charge.
Mr. Wenck was born in Germany September 30, 1840. His marriage to Miss Sophie Ott took place in June 1857. Shortly afterwards they came to America and settled at Joliet, Ill., where they resided until 1877, at which time they moved to Sheridan township, Carroll county, Iowa. In 1885 they moved to Glidden township where they lived until 1902 when they moved to this city, which has since been their home.
After the death of Mrs. Wenck, April 9, 1911, Mr. Wenck made his home for one year with his daughter, Mrs. W.I. Wiedemeyer, and the remaining years with his daughter, Mrs. Leo. Carver, living at 820 N. Clark street.
Ten children mourn the loss of their good father, Miss Sophie Wenck, Mrs. D. Jurgens, Mrs. W.I. Wiedemeyer, Mrs. Leo Carver, all of Carroll, John Wenck, Mrs. G.A. Steigerwalt, Dan Wenck, Jr., Frank Wenck, all of Glidden, Mrs. A.W. Rosein, of Spirit Lake, Charles Wenck, Sedalia, Mo. He also leaves to mourn his death his two brothers, Chris and John, 5 sons-in-law, 4 daughters-in-law, and 18 grand children.
