April 8, 1980 - Carroll Daily Times - John Lincoln Miner Jr. 79, of Carroll, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday April 7, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital after a brief illness. He was a retired electrician. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 10, at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Glidden with the Rev. Scott Burkley, pastor of the Glidden United Presbyterian church, officiating. Burial will be in the Carroll cemetery. A Masonic memorial service will be conducted at 8 p.m. Wednesday by Signet Lodge of Carroll at the Glidden funeral home. Friends may call at the Glidden funeral home after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Surviving are two daughters: Mrs. Betty Fisher, Glidden, and Mrs. Shirley Johnson, Las Vegas, Nev.; 14 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, wife, and two brothers: Paul and Harry.

Mr. Miner was born June 27, 1900, at Carroll, a son of John L. Sr. and Mary Jane Hardy Miner. He attended schools in Carroll. He was married to Laura Vaughan June 23, 1923, at Carroll. She died Aug. 3, 1962. He worked for the Iowa Public Service Company in Carroll before moving to California where he was employed by the Imperial Valley Irrigation System. He returned to Carroll 15 years ago. He was a member of Signet Lodge. A.F. & A.M., No. 2M. of Carroll.
