Feb 23, 1911 - Carroll Times - At the family home in Arcadia township, eight miles west of this city, early Monday morning, occurred the death of John Liechti, after a week's illness from Bronchitis. He had been enjoying fairly good health all winter but when he was taken with bronchitis, his advanced age was against him, and he passed peacefully away on above date. He has a host of friends in this county who sincerely mourn his untimely demise.

John Liechti was born in Bilgen, Canton Bern, Switzerland, on January 12, 1826. He was married to Miss Carolina Lehman on June 14, 1853. In 1873 he came to this country and shortly afterwards to Carroll county.

His family at the time of his death consisted of his wife and ten children. One child died some years ago. The living children are: Ernest, Charley, John, Adolph, Otto, Hugo, Emma, Amelia, Mrs. Ida Michel all of Carroll county and Mrs. Bertha Glanzman of Platte, South Dakota. He leaves to mourn him sixteen grandchildren.

In his death Carroll county loses another of her earliest and sturdy pioneers, one of those men who by hard and untiring efforts settled and made it what it is today. He was ever a loving husband and father, a kind and generous neighbor and a good Christian. The funeral services were held from the home west of here Wednesday forenoon at 10 o'clock. The remains were laid to rest in the family lot in the Carroll cemetery.
