March 17, 1948 - Carroll Times - Mrs. Emilie Boehme, 84, of Council Bluffs, formerly a longtime resident of Carroll, died at 5:30 yesterday morning in the home of her daughter, Mrs. J.C. Bundgaard, at Council Bluffs. She had been in failing health the past year and bedfast the last few weeks. Funeral services will be at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran church here at 2 p.m. Friday, with Pastor Waklemar E. Hinck officiating. Burial will be in the Carroll cemetery. The rites here will follow services at Council Bluffs at 10 a. m. Friday.

Mrs. Boehme, born in Germany November 23, 1863, came to the United States when she was about 22 years old. Until she sold her home here in September 1944, to Mrs. Clara Hoogestraat and left for Council Bluffs, Mrs. Boehme had lived in Carroll the larger part of the time since 1886. Her husband, August Boehme, who died in March 1906, had served as Carroll county treasurer.

Mrs. Boehme leaves three sons, four daughters, 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren. Her children are Albert J. and LeRoy H. Boehme, Council Bluffs, both of whom were here today to make funeral arrangements; Mrs. Bundgaard (Emily), Council Bluffs; Mrs. B.A. Lutter (Valda), Marshalltown; Mrs. Theresa Woodmansee, Webster City; Mrs Elrika Dunn, Los Angeles, Calif., and Gustave A. Boehme, Sacramento.

Her surviving sisters are: Mrs. Threasa Stimbert, Lincoln, Neb., Mrs. Gus Pokrantz and Mrs. Alvina Pokrantz, Gibson, Ia. She also leaves four nephews and seven nieces, three of whom live in Carroll, Misses Augusta and Amelia Fischer and Arnold Fischer.

Mrs. Boehme was preceded in death by a daughter, Hilda, and two sons, Edward and George. She had belonged to the Lutheran church for many years.
