Nov 24, 1943 - Carroll Times - Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon at the Huffman Funeral home for William Fritz of Fergus Falls, Minn., formerly of Carroll, who died at his home there at 3 a.m. Nov. 19 after being in failing health for some time. The Rev. Morton Hickman, minister of the First Presbyterian church, officiated at the rites, during which H.L. Hudson sang "The Old Rugged Cross," accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth K. Holley. Burial was in the family lot in the Carroll cemetery beside his wife, who died June 11, 1939. Pall bearers were Raymond Fritz of Gray and Clarence Fritz of Boone, both of whom are nephews of Mr. Fritz, and Carl Selzer, Al A. Osten, George S. Miller and Eilert Wessels.

Out-of-town relatives present at the services included: Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Anderson, Fergus Falls, Minn., who accompanied the body here for burial; Sterling Fritz, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. M.W. Fritz and daughter, Virginia, Omaha; Bernard Morgan, Mitchell, S.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fritz, Boone; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Fritz, Gray, and Mr. and Mrs. J.W. Sievers, Arcadia. Funeral services had been held at 1:30 Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Funeral home at Fergus Falls before the body was brought to Carroll.

Mr. Fritz, who was 80 years old was born in Tiffin, Ohio, Oct 7, 1863. He was married to Miss Isa M. Fritz at Carroll Nov. 24, 1886. To them were born two sons and one daughter. One son, Marion W. Fritz, passed away June 16, 1940. Mr. Fritz leaves his son, Charles W Fritz of Gorham, ME, who visited him this past summer, and his daughter, Mrs Leonard Anderson (Edith) of Fergus Falls, MN; one grandson, Sterling Fritz, Denver; 2 grand daughters: Mrs. C.F. Parker, Gorham, Me, and Virginia Fritz, Omaha; and one great grandson, William Lee Fritz, Denver.

Mr. Fritz was a farmer in Carroll county from the time of his marriage until 1910. Retiring from the farm, the family moved to Carroll and lived here for nine years. In the early spring of 1919 they moved to Perham, Minn., where they lived until October 1927, when they purchased the home in Fergus Falls, which has been the family residence ever since.
