July 16, 1914 - Carroll Sentinel - Mr. Michael Fritz died at his home in Carroll last Friday morning at 7:30, the cause of death being hemmorrhage. The death was very sudden as the fatal attack came on less than six hours before death resulted. Mr. Fritz was born at Tiffin, Ohio, and spent his early life in that place.

In the year 1855 he was married at Tiffin to Miss Strausbaugh, who died a few years later leaving four sons, who still survive. In 1868 while still a resident of Ohio, Mr. Fritz was married to Miss Anna Spooner, who survives him with three daughters by the second marriage. The sons of the first marriage are Frank and Samuel, of Tiffin, Ohio; William, of Ossawattamie, Kansas; James, of Carroll. The daughters are Mrs. William Fritz, of Carroll, Mrs. William Sievers, of Arcadia, and Miss Maude Fritz, at home.

The family moved from Ohio in 1875, and settled in Pleasant Valley township of this county, where they made their home for about twenty-five years, the old homestead being four and one-half miles southeast of Carroll. Fourteen years ago he retired from farming and moved to Carroll where he has since resided.

Mr. Fritz was an industrious man and a good citizen who had the respect of the community in which he lived. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at the home conducted by Rev. S.G. Lewis and interment was made in Carroll cemetery. Samuel Fritz, of Tiffin, Ohio, and William Fritz of Ossawatamie, Kans., were in attendance at the funeral.
