March 22, 1954 - Carroll Daily Times - Miss Frances Adra Dunn, 65, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Carroll, died Saturday afternoon at Spirit Lake following a 10 month illness. Burial will be in the Carroll City cemetery.

Miss Dunn, daughter of Wilmont F. and Frances S. Dunn, was born in Carroll May 16, 1888. After attending grade and high school at Boone, she attended Coe College at Cedar Rapids for one and one-half years. While residing in Carroll she was cashier for the J.A. Strohm company for 13 years. In 1920 she moved to Los Angeles where she worked in the Shoe Dept of J.W. Robinson company until August 10, 1953. At that time she underwent major surgery.

March 24, 1954 - Carroll Daily Times - Final rites were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Huffman Funeral Home here for Miss Frances Dunn, 65, of Los Angeles, Calif., formerly of Carroll. The Rev. Walter E. Schiel, minister of the First Presbyterian Church, officiated. Mrs. Romayne E. Huffman sang "Prayer Perfect," accompanied by Mrs. Kenneth K. Holley, pianist, who also played a prelude and postlude. Burial was in the Carroll City cemetery. Pallbearers were Dean Remsburg of Glidden, Louis H. Anderson, Abner Strohm, Robert A. Wright, D. W. Hanssen and Glenn N. Weeks.

Out-of-town relatives at the rites were Miss Dunn's brothers-in-law and sisters, Mr. and Mrs. Mort Mackey, Okoboji, and Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Laughlin, Chicago. Also attending from away were Mrs. W.L. Dingwell of Des Moines and R.O. Clinton and A.H. Smith, friends from Okoboji.

Miss Dunn, who left Carroll in 1920 to live in Los Angeles, was employed in the shoe department of J.W. Robinson Company there until August 10, 1953. After undergoing major surgery in Los Angeles, she went to the home of her brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Mackey, at Okoboji Sept. 19. She died Saturday afternoon in the Marcus Snyder Memorial Hospital at Spirit Lake. Besides her two sisters named, Miss Dunn leaves a brother, George W. Dunn of Boone.
