Mabel Augusta "Mae" Davis 1882-1962

Sept 6, 1962 - Carroll Daily Times - Lake City — Funeral services for Mrs. Mae Davis, 79, Lake City, were held Sept. 2 at 2 p.m. at Pilgrim Lutheran Church here. The Rev. Arnold E. Heimsoth officiated. Pallbearers were Jerry Rolfes, Donald Heim, Richard Schuneman, William Hawks, James Hawks, and Eugene Kolbe. Burial, in charge of the Huffman Memorial Chapel of Lake City, was in the Carroll City Cemetery.

Mrs. Davis was the former Mabel Augusta (Mae) Reynolds, daughter of Augustus and Loretta Irish Reynolds. She was born Nov, 26, 1882, at Bloomington, Wis., where she attended school. On Jan. 1, 1902 she was married to Myron Davis. In 1910 she and her husband moved to Grant County, Iowa. From 1910 until 1936 they lived in various places in Grant, Sac, Dickinson, and Carroll Counties.

Mr. Davis died in 1936 after which Mrs. Davis established a home in Carroll. She remained in Carroll until 1956. In March 1955, she suffered a stroke which left her partially paralyzed. For a while she stayed in the homes of her children, but later entered a nursing home in Lake City. Mrs. Davis had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Carroll, and since 1954, of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Lake City. She died Aug. 30 at Stewart Memorial Hospital, Lake City.
