WATERS, DOTY, EMMONS

Oct 15, 1925 - Carroll Times - Arlo Waters, aged 32 years, son of Mrs. Henry Doty of this city, was killed last Sunday in Detroit, when the racing auto he was driving, went through a fence, fatally injuring him and painfully injuring a number of spectators. The body was brought to Carroll, arriving here Wednesday evening, and funeral services will be conducted from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Doty on Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Rev. W.H. Parker in charge.

Arlo was born in Greene county 32 years ago, and until he was 7 years old continued to reside there, when he with his parents moved to Carroll. As a boy he was very fond of horses and racing, and as he grew up he became interested in auto racing, having become well known on the auto race course. For the past ten years he has made his home in Des Moines, Los Angeles and Chicago, and was living in the latter named city at the time of his death.

Besides his mother, Mrs. Henry Doty, his step-father, Henry Doty survives, as does a sister, Mrs. Frank Emmons of this city, and a little daughter, Frances, who is 10 years of age.

At the time ot his fatal injury, he was trying to make a new record and was racing at the Michigan state fair grounds. He was not instantly killed, but died while being taken to the hospital.
