Mary Jane Caywood 1875-1953

June 22, 1953 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. Mary Jane Caywood, 77, of Ralston, mother of Mrs. William Beidler of Carroll, died at 12:15 a.m. Sunday at St. Anthony Hospital. Mrs. Caywood, who had been ill since Tuesday, had entered the hospital Wednesday. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the United Brethren Church in Ralston. The Rev. Virgil E. Shickell will officiate. Mrs. Clarence Ratzlaff will be pianist. The Rev. R.L. Wiedumilt of Glidden will sing "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Beautiful Isle of Somewhere." Burial will be in Dillavou Cemetery. The body is remaining at the Huffman Funeral Home in Scranton until the hour of the rites.

Mrs. Caywood, widow of Charles Caywood, was born Nov. 21, 1875, in Kendrick Township, Greene County, Iowa. A daughter of William E. and Rebecca Conway, her name was Mary Jane Conway before her marriage which look place Oct. 25, 1896, in Scranton. Mrs. Caywood lived in the Ralston and Scranton communities all her life. She had attended school in Scranton.

Surviving are three sons: Ray Caywood, Glidden; Lloyd, Scranton; and Roy, Boone; one daughter, Mrs. Beidler (Goldie), Carroll; two half-brothers, Jess Orchard, Jefferson; and Silas Orchard, Primghar; eight grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Caywood was preceded in death by her husband, who died Nov. 6, 1951, and her parents. She was a member of the Baptist Church.
