May 26, 1967 - Carroll Daily Times - Arthur W. Schumacher Sr., 82, of Carroll died Thursday afternoon, May 25, at St. Anthony Nursing Home after being in failing health for six months. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the First Methodist Church, with the Rev. D. Merle Hill officiating. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Saturday. The casket will remain closed after being taken to the church at noon Monday.

A son of John F. and Elizabeth Schumacher, he was born at Carroll Jan. 2, 1885. He spent his young manhood in Carroll and on Feb. 14, 1914, was married to Erma Ione Willey. Following their marriage the couple lived in Carroll for a short time and then moved to South Dakota. They returned to Carroll and in 1926, moved to Chicago, where Mr. Schumacher was employed by the Sinclair Oil Company. His wife died in 1953, and in 1962, Mr. Schumacher moved back to Carroll, entering the St. Anthony Nursing Home as one of its first residents. He was a member of the First Methodist Church, Carroll.

Surviving are two sons, Arthur W. Schumacher Jr. of Dallas, Tex., and Max H. Schumacher, Arlington Heights, Illinois; three grandchildren; and Marie Perkins of Des Moines, a cousin. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
