Sept 14, 1966 - Carroll Daily Times - Lanesboro — Mrs. Matilda Dewey, 72, of Lanesboro, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City following a short illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lanesboro Methodist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Willis Grant will officiate and burial will be in the East Liberty Cemetery in Carroll County. Arrangements are in charge of the Huffman Memorial Chapel, Lake City, where friends may call after 7 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Dewey was born June 18, 1893, in Guthrie County, a daughter of Charles Wesley and Elizabeth Wailes Main. Her marriage to Alfred Dewey took place Sept. 6, 1911, in Carroll County. She had lived in Lanesboro for the past 12 years.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Harry (Bertha) Armstrong, and a son, George Dewey, both of Lanesboro; 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren; and the following brothers and sisters: Richard Main, Troy Mills; George Main and Mrs. George McBride, Fort Dodge; Mrs. Elmer Blunk, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Earl Stoolman, Rockwell City; and James Main, Los Angeles, Calif.
