Sept 12, 1938 - Carroll Daily - Lidderdale — Ora Clapper, 77, died at 5:30 Sunday afternoon, Sept. 4, at the home of Mrs. Jones in Lake City, where he had been cared for during the last two weeks of his life. The body rested at the Squires Funeral Home in Lake City until rites were held at the Presbyterian Church in Auburn Tuesday Rev. Saunders officiated. Burial was beside his wife in the East Liberty Cemetery. Pallbearers, who were the same as those who had served at his wife's funeral, were Fred Wohlenburg, Fred Kroeger, Henry Sievers, Henry Otto, John Bruggeman, and Henry Jacobs.

Mr. Clapper had been in poor health for the last two years and had been at the McVay Hospital in Lake City most of that time. He was removed to the home of Mrs. Jones in Lake City only two weeks before he passed away.

Born July 26, 1861, at Zanesville, Ohio, Mr. Clapper came to Iowa with his parents in a covered wagon. He was married to Miss Emma Lux on Oct. 7, 1882. They located on a farm five miles northwest of Lidderdale in Sheridan Township, where they lived for many years. They were residing on this same farm when Mrs. Clapper died in 1931. Mr. Clapper retired from farming soon after his wife's death and made his home with his children.

Mr. Clapper's surviving children are: Mrs. Henry Heuton (Maggie), Glidden; Ed Clapper, Glidden; Mrs. Roy Ridenour (Rose), near Fonda; Mrs. Tony Schulte (Clara), Auburn; and John Clapper, Auburn. He also leaves twenty two grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, four brothers: Frank, Ed and Nels Clapper of Des Moines and J. Clapper of Ulmer, and one sister, Mrs. Cora Ricker, Lake City.

He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Floyd Jimmison (Nellie), and one brother, Lon Clapper.
