Jan 9, 1933 - Carroll Daily - Mrs. Bryan Kelly, one of the older residents of Carroll, died yesterday afternoon at 4:10 at her home on North Maple street She had been an invalid for 22 years. Funeral services will be held tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock at St. Joseph's church the Very Rev. father P.T. Lynch will celebrate requim high mass. Burial will be in St Joseph cemetery.

Anna Duffy was born in Ireland March 13, 1848. She was the daughter of Mr & Mrs James Duffy with whom she migrated to the United States when she was 13, It was the day of sailing vessels and the trip took 6 weeks.

They located in Fairfield, Conn., and later moved to Jersey City, N.J. where she was married to Bryan Kelly in December, 1873. They first lived in Illinois and in 1883 moved to Iowa.

In 1887 they came to Carroll, which has since been the home. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kelly, Mary F. Kelly, at home; Thomas J. Kelly, of Denver, Colo.; James B. Kelly, of Sioux City; Miles P. Kelly, of Washington, D.C., who survive.

A son, Edward C. Kelly, died in 1911 and Miss Anna Kelly, a teacher at the city schools, died in 1913. Mr. Kelly, who was bailiff and later janitor at the court house for 20 years, died in 1924.

She leaves three sisters: Mrs. Owen Finnegan of Carroll; Mrs. Peter Conley of Madison, Neb.; and Mrs John Haas of Pleasantville, IA.

During her long years of invalidism, Mrs. Kelly was tenderly cared for by her daughter, Miss Mary F Kelly, who is principal of the south side school building. She has been seriously ill from time to time, but rallied and regained her usual health. Her last illness began Saturday morning and was of short duration. She died well fortified with the last rites of the Catholic church.
