December 8, 1981 - Carroll Daily Times - AUDUBON — Funeral services for Mrs. Bess Emery, 85, of Audubon, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 5, at First United Methodist church here with the Revs. Warren McFate and Harvey G. Quandt officiating. Burial was in the Carroll cemetery under the direction of the McFadden Funeral Home of Audubon. Serving as pallbearers were Jon Buttler, George Dozler, Thomas Dozler, Roger Larsen, Ronnie Larsen, and Russell Larsen. Mrs. Emery died Thursday, December 3, at Friendship Nursing Home in Audubon.

Surviving are a sister Mrs. Roy Williams, Audubon; three nieces: Mrs. Russell (Betty) Larsen, Gray; Mrs. Perl (Margaret) Buttler, Guthrie Center, and Mrs. Earl (Marjorie) Davis, Carroll.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and sisters and a nephew.

Mrs. Emery was born Elizabeth Bess Emery March 9, 1896, in Carroll County, a daughter of William and Elizabeth Davis. She spent most of her life in Carroll County, attending school there and was a member and active worker in the Dedham United Methodist church and the United Methodist Women. She later transferred her membership to the Audubon United Methodist church. She was married to Elmer Emery and later moved to Audubon. She lived in her home until her health failed and she entered Friendship Nursing Home in 1977.
