Jan 17, 1949 - Carroll Daily Times - Mrs. Christina Hinze, widow of Charles F. Hinze, died at 3 p.m. yesterday at St. Anthony hospital, where she had undergone a major operation Sunday night, January 9. Her death followed that of her husband, a retired law enforcement officer, by less than three months. She was 79 years old. Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Huffman Funeral home, where the body is resting until the time of the rites. The Rev. John E. Wheatley, minister of the First Presbyterian church, will officiate. Mrs. Hinze will be buried in the Carroll cemetery beside her husband, who died Nov. 3, 1948.

A daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hans Hoist, Mrs. Hinze was born July 29, 1869 at Blue Island, Illinois. As a child she came to Wheatland township, Carroll county, in 1882. She married Mr. Hinze February 9, 1892, in the Wheatland Township Presbyterian church, with the pastor, the late Rev. L. Huendling, officiating. The couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary February 9, 1942. Mr. and Mrs. Hinze farmed in Washington township from the time of their marriage until 1914, when they moved to Carroll.

Mrs. Hinze leaves five children: Mrs. Detlef Popp (Laura) Manning; Mrs. Mainert Eckholdt (Lillie), Manning; Herbert F. Hinze, Arcadia; Mrs. V.T. Culver (Hazel), Los Angeles, Calif., and Leonard F. Hinze, Carroll; 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Mary Dohse of Westside. Four sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Hinze was a member of the Presbyterian church. Mrs. Culver will be unable to attend the funeral services.
