Pioneer Resident Dead.

Mrs. Herman Peck Passed Away at Her Home Last Thursday. Suffered From Paralysis.

At the family home at Lidderdale last Thursday morning at 8 o'clock, occurred the death of Mrs. Herman Peck. She was subject to paralytic strokes and suffered a slight attack last December. However, she recovered in a short time and seemed to be herself again and she often spoke of her past life seeming to live it over again. On August 6th she was again stricken and this was so serious that she never regained consciousness, passing peacefully away on the 11th. Her death is the source of much grief by the many friends she had made during her life and because of her ever cheerful and kind ways.

Margaret Grohn was born in Germany, November 17, 1832. On April 5th, 1857, she was united in marriage to Herman Peck and in the same year they removed to this country, settling in Jones county. Thirty-six years ago this estimable couple moved to Sheridan township, this county, and there they resided until two years ago, when they moved to Lidderdale to make their home in their declining years. Mrs. Peck was the mother of eight children, two sons and six daughters, who were the pride and joy of her life, they being all brought up highly respected citizens. They are as follows: Mrs. E. B. Crossette, Mrs. Judge and Mrs. Gotsch of Carroll, Mrs. H. Ojers, Dewitt, Nebraska, Mrs. H. Heslingh of Grant township, Mrs. J. C. Wohlenberg, Fargo, North Dakota, and Wm. and George at home. She also leaves to mourn her death a kind and loving husband by whose side she was happy for so many years. A brother here and two sisters in Germany also survive her.

The funeral services were held from the home in Lidderdale last Sunday, Rev. Elliott officiating. The remains were brought to Carroll and tenderly laid in their final resting place in the Carroll cemetery. The surviving relatives have the sympathy of the community in their bereavement.
