Thomas Osborne died at his home, in Carroll township, five miles southwest of town, at two o'clock this morning, aged 43 years. Funeral will occur Sunday at the residence at one o'clock, and at the M. E. church at two o'clock. Mr. Osborne was born in England and immigrated to this country when but a small child with his parents who located in Grant county, Wisconsin, where he lived until grown to manhood. At twenty-three years of age he came to Carroll county, where he has lived for the past twenty years, and is one of the pioneers of the county. Uncle Tommy was known to nearly every resident in this part of the country and was one of our most prosperous and highly respected citizens, enjoying the confidence and good will of everyone whose pleasure it has been to know him. He leaves a wife and several children, who mourn the loss of an idolized husband and father. The Sentinel and the community at large extend their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved family.

Despite the extremely disagreeable weather a large number of people attended the funeral services of the late Thomas Osborne at the M. E. church. A disagreeable and unlucky accident occurred on the way from the house to the church, in which no one was to blame. The road was deceptive and uncertain, and shortly after leaving the house the hearse containing the corpse accidentally tipped over. No damaging results followed, and after being righted up, the procession proceeded to the church without further happenings. Rev. Smith, the officiating clergyman, delivered an able and fitting tribute to the memory of the deceased. Had the weather been agreeable standing room could not have been obtained in the church.
