Death of Mrs. J. Dacewitz

Passes Away at Home of Daughter on Monday of This Week.

On Wednesday, Mrs. Jacob Dacewitz, one of the oldest residents of the city, was laid to rest in SS. Peter and Paul cemetery, her funeral in that church being very largely attended by friends and neighbors who had known her for many years. Her death took place on Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. Winnike, with whom she has resided since the death of her husband. While she has been in rather feeble condition for some time her death was somewhat of a surprise to those outside the immediate family circle.

The deceased, whose maiden name was Clara Theresa Vovel, was born in Germany, May 7, 1839, in Dasig, West Pressen. She was married in 1870 to Jacob Dacewitz, with whom she first located in Chicago and later, in 1874, came to Carroll, where she has ever since made her home. Six children were born to them, three of whom died in infancy. Three daughters survive, namely: Mrs. F. J. Connelly, of Omaha; Clarisa, Mrs. Frank D. Barger, of Sioux City; May, Mrs. Wm. Winnike, of Carroll. One sister survives her, Mrs. Fred Koll, of Chicago.

Her chief interest and pleasure in her later years has been in the home life of her children and grand children.
