Death of Mrs. A. W. Miller.

Monday the home of A. W. Miller in the first ward was saddened by the death of his beloved wife which occurred about nine o'clock. She had been in poor health for years, but not till the 15th of last January did she fail so as to give any apprehension to the family. Her ailing became gradually worse till about a week ago when a change came for the worst, then the decline was rapid. Death came to relieve her suffering early Monday night, she passing away in the midst of her family.

The maiden name of the deceased was Lillie M. Omer and she was born in Clinton county, Iowa, in 1864, the 37th anniversary of her birth coming on the day in which she breathed her last. She was married to A. W. Miller in this town sixteen years ago and they have lived here since, with the exception of a time at Irwin where Mr. Miller was in business. Besides her husband she leaves to mourn her departure one son, Frank, about 14 years of age. Her brother, C. E. Omer, and mother, Mrs. Kate Hoover, are also residents of this place. Mrs. Hoover was visiting in Philadelphia when the news reached her that her daughter was near death's door and returned home only last Thursday.

The funeral was held at the Baptist church today, Rev. A. H. Dent delivering the sermon.

Mrs. Miller was a woman highly esteemed by all who knew her, and in her death the community loses one of its valued members. The family have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.

Mrs. A. W. Miller Dead.

In Monday's Sentinel the serious illness of Mrs. A. W. Miller was announced but before the papers had all reached their destination her spirit had winged its flight. She passed to the beyond shortly before nine that evening. Her death was due to a reaction from an operation performed several years ago for the removal of a tumorous growth which had up till that time caused her considerable trouble. The operation was successful, she rallied and soon regained her former health, which was the best until a few months ago when the members of the family began to notice her gradual decline. Not until a week ago today was she forced to take her bed, but from that time on she rapidly grew weaker and the end came just thirty-seven years from the day she was born, from a complication of diseases.

Lillie Omer Miller was born in Pennsylvania April 15, 1864, and the following year her parents moved to Clinton county, this state, where the family resided until they moved to this city. Her father died while in Clinton county and her mother again married. The husband, Elijah Hoover, died in this city last summer. In the autumn of 1884 Miss Omer became the wife of A. W. Miller. Except for a time when Mr. Miller was engaged in business at Irwin and Coon Rapids, the family has resided in Carroll. One son, Frank, now about fourteen years of age, was born to them, who with the husband; mother, Mrs. Kate Hoover; brothers, C. A. and George; sister, Mrs. Ella Green, of St. Louis, mourn her loss. The two latter named were unable to attend the funeral, the latter's address being unknown, although somewhere in Colorado. An aunt, Mrs. John Langsetth of Eagle Grove, was present at the funeral.

The deceased was a devout christian, uniting with the First Baptist church while under the pastorate of Rev. F. L. Rozell four years ago. Since that time she has been active in church work. In her death the community loses one of its valued members, the husband a devoted wife, the son a comforting mother, and the church an earnest worker. She was highly esteemed by all who knew her.

The funeral obsequies were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock from the Baptist church, Rev. A. H. Dent preaching the sermon. A large number were present to pay their respects to the one who had lived a life of usefulness. Interment took place in the Carroll cemetery.
