Violent Death of a Woman.

Last Saturday evening between 5 and 6 o'clock, as Mrs. Viola Trowbridge, in company with her sons Nelson and Clayton, was returning to her home a few miles northeast of the city she fell from the buggy and was instantly killed.

The deceased had been to town during the afternoon shopping and was in usual good health and spirit. Little did those with whom she chatted an hour previous expect to see her lifeless body brought back to town. But the uncertainty of human existence was again impressed upon the mind in this sorrowful instance. As the buggy approached the Nichols farm a short distance east of town, Mrs. Trowbridge, sitting in the back seat, was leaning forward tieing her shoe lace, when the team gave a sudden lurch throwing her head first from the vehicle. She struck the ground with such force as to split the skull. Her sons were soon at her side, but no sign of consciousness could be discerned. Assistance was at once secured from town. Dr. Bowman and Will Trowbridge together with others hurried to the scene of the accident. The physician found that beside the fractured skull the deceased had sustained a broken neck, which was the immediate cause of her death.

The remains were taken to Woodring's undertaking rooms and the body prepared for burial.

The sudden and tragic death of Mrs. Viola Trowbridge is made doubly sad when it is recalled that her husband, John Trowbridge, met with a similar fate less than a year ago. She was the mother of six children, five sons who were at home with her and a daughter residing in Wyoming. A woman of forty years, she was an industrious and painstaking mother, ever looking after the welfare of her home and children. Besides her family, deceased leaves two sister and a brother who have arrived from Des Moines to attend the funeral. They are: Mr. Townsend, Mr. and Mrs. John Morgan, Mr. and Mrs. Garns.

The funeral will take place this afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Trowbridge, Rev. C. E. Bentley officiating.
