JOSEPHINE M. REILiNG

Josephine Reiling, 102, of Carroll and formerly of Auburn, died Wednesday evening, Dec. 7, 1994, at the Carroll Health Center nursing home in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian burial for Mrs. Reiling will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, at St. Mary Church in Auburn with the Rev. Merlin Schrad officiating. Burial will be in the St. Mary Cemetery in Auburn.

Lector for the Mass will be Phyllis Cannon. Gift bearers will be Edward, Cyril and Mary Reiling. Eucharistic minister will be Marge Reiling.

Casket bearers will be Tom, John, Robert, Ronnie, David and Dennis Reiling.

Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. Friday at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. and a Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Friday by St. Mary Parish at the funeral home.

Born April 7, 1892, at Breda, she was a daughter of Joseph and Victoria (Ludwig) Schelle. She spent her younger years in Breda and attended St. Bernard Schools.

On Jan. 28, 1918, she married John Reiling at St. Bernard Church in Breda. They farmed in South Dakota. Algona and then in Carroll County. They moved to a home in Auburn in 1947, and following her husband's death. Mrs. Reiling moved to Carroll. She had been a resident of Carroll Health Center since 1977.

Survivors include two sons, Cyril Reiling and his wife, Billie, of Carroll and Edward Reiling and his wife, Marge, of Wall Lake; a daughter-in-law, Mary Agnes Reiling of Augusta. Kan.; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; seven step great-grandchildren; a sister, Coletta OTool of Lake View; and three sisters-in-law, Mary Schelle of Breda, Catherine Reiling of Auburn and Mary Rosonke Schweickert of Carroll.

Mrs. Reiling was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John, in 1951; a son, Richard Reiling; a daughter-in-law, Ilene Reiling; five brothers, Joe, Herman, Charles. Leo and Henry Schelle; a sister, Elizabeth Weber and a half sister, Ann Stallman.
