Theodore Gehling, 79, of Carroll died Thursday, Feb. 17, at his home at 202 West Second Street of a heart ailment.

Requiem mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. in Holy Spirit Church by the Very Rev. Leo Lenz, V.F. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 7 p.m. Saturday. Rosaries will be recited there at 8 p.m. Saturday, and Sunday at 3 p.m., 8 p.m. by the Holy Name Society of Holy Spirit and 8:45 p.m.

Mr. Gehling was born March 1, 1892, at Carroll, the son of Herman and Ella Timp Gehling Sr. His marriage to Katherine Hoffman took place Sept. 6,1921, at Denver, Colo., with the Rev. A. J. Miller officiating.

He farmed one mile south of Carroll for a number of years and retired to his home in Carroll in 1951.

He was a member of the Holy Spirit Holy Name Society and received his education at SS. Peter and Paul School.

Survivors include his wife; five daughters, Mrs. Roc (Marie) Von Eschen of Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Herman (Ann) Rath of Glidden, Mrs. James (Lucille) Jackley of Carroll, Mrs. Charles (Helen) Gray of Altoona and Mrs. Bill (Freda) Barron of Peoria, III; four sons, Frank and Leonard of Carroll, John of Lake City and Vincent of Halbur; 31 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs Katherine Masching and Mrs. James Houlihan, both of Carroll. He was preceded in death by a son, Leo, three sisters and four brothers.
