CLARENCE GEHLING

Funeral mass for Clarence Gehling, 83, of Grand Meadow, Minn., a Carroll native, will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2003, at St. Finbarr Catholic Church in Grand Meadow with the Rev. Steve Peterson officiating.

Burial will be at the St. Finbarr Cemetery.

Mr. Gehling, 83, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at his home.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 23 at St. Finbarr Catholic Church and one hour prior to the service Wednesday.

Clarence Joseph Gehling was born Sept. 1, 1920, in Carroll, a son of Henry and Regina (Reiling) Gehling. He married Florence Krause on Oct. 20, 1943, in Roselle at Holy Angels Church.

He served in the Army Air, Corps as a flight engineer during World War II. Serving in the Persian Gulf and North Africa, he served for three years.

After his military service he returned home to farm in Carroll County, then moved to Mower County, Minn., in 1953. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 62 years and an American Legion member for 59 years,

In his retirement he enjoyed antique cars, tractors, family and friends.

Mr. Gehling is survived by his wife, Florence, of Grand Meadow; three sons, Ronald, and his wife, Lanna, of Preston, Marvin and his wife, Linda, and Wayne and his wife, Carol, all of Grand Meadow; a daughter, Elaine Hegge and her husband, Jim; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a brother Albert and his wife, Lois, of Grand Meadow; and a sister, Virgina Broich, of Lake View.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and a sister.
