ROSEMARY SCHON, CARROLL

Rosemary Schon, 79, of Carroll died June 4, 2010, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, June 7, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant was Father Timothy Johnson, assisted by Rosie’s son, Deacon Gary Schon. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Arrangements were handled by Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

Rosie Schon was born Aug. 13, 1930, in Carroll to Clarence and Catherine (Gehling) Masching. She spent her lifetime in the Carroll community and attended Saint Peter and Paul School and graduated from St. Angela Academy. Her marriage to Leo Schon took place Nov. 27, 1950, at Saint Peter and Paul Church in Carroll. The couple farmed southwest of Glidden until 1987, when they moved to their home in Carroll. Rosie, a homemaker, was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Parish Ladies Guild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Sandy Knudsen; a sister, Leona Masching, in infancy; and three brothers, Louis Masching, Edwin Masching, and Robert Masching, in infancy.

She is survived by her husband, Leo, of Carroll; her children — Gary Schon of Glidden, Dale Schon of Willey, Mary Schon of Carroll, Shirley Angrick of Glidden, Jean Pletchette of Winterset, Mark Schon of Cedar Rapids, Jeff Schon of Glidden, Joey Schon of Coon Rapids, and Pat Schon of Glidden; five sisters — Evie Wieland, Rainey Wieland, Edna Ludwig, and Mary Pudenz, all of Carroll, and Lois Neumayer of Rancho Murieta, Calif.; two brothers, Don Masching of Breda and Jim Masching of Carroll; and 28 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
