Death of Mrs. John Schultes

Passes Away at Home in Newton Township After Several Years Illness.

Mrs. Walburga Schultes, wife of John Schultes, of Newton township, Carroll county, died February 15, after an illness extending over several years. The deceased was born in the parish of Leichtenberg, Bavaria, February 16, 1853, and came to America in 1875. She was married in the fall of that year to John Schultes, who survives her, at St. Lucas, Iowa. They removed shortly after their marriage to Pleasant Valley township in this county and later moved to Newton township where they have since resided. Three sons and six daughters were born to this union as follows: John Jr., George and Michael; Anna, Mrs. Frank Tigges; Theresia, Mrs. Mat Liewer, of Butte, Nebraska; Maria, Barbara, Margaret and Susanne, the latter a member of the sisterhood at La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The funeral of Mrs. Schultes was held from St. Mary's church at Willey, Iowa, February 18, 1913.
