Old Resident Dies At Home In Willey

Adam Bayer, 82, Well Known Pleasant Valley Township Farmer, Called by Death.

Adam Bayer, 82 years old, a resident of Pleasant Valley township in Carroll county for 47 years, died Sunday morning of senility at his home in the little village of Willey. About 20 years ago he retired from active work on the farm and moved to Willey to make his home. Funeral services were held yesterday morning at the St. Mary's church in Willey, and interment made in the Willey cemetery.

Mr. Bayer was born in Bavaria, Germany, August 24, 1839, coming to America in 1869 and locating first at Lake Superior, Mich. He and Miss Theresa Schultes were married September 15, 1869, and in 1873 moved to Fayette county, Ia., coming from there to Carroll county in 1875.

To this union nine children were born, seven of whom, with the wife and mother, are living. The children are: John Bayer, of Meunster, Texas; Alvis Bayer, of Halbur; Adam, George, Frank and Joseph Bayer, of Pleasant Valley township, and Mrs. Albert Newberg, of Dedham. The oldest and youngest sons died several years ago. One brother, Bob Bayer, resides at St. Lucas, Ia.

Mr. Bayer was one of the substantial citizens of the Willey vicinity, and his death is sincerely mourned by a large circle of friends.
