Funeral Services For Mrs. Wiskus To Be Held Friday

Pioneer Of Dedham, 84, Dies At Home Of Severe Burns

Funeral services for Mrs. Theodore Wiskus, 84 year old pioneer of the Dedham community, who died early yesterday morning at the home of her son, John Wiskus, one mile east of Dedham, of burns received Monday evening, when her dress caught afire while trying to kindle a fire, will be held at 9 o'clock Friday morning at St. Joseph's church at Dedham. The Rev. Father C. Huelshorst will celebrate the requiem mass. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. The body was taken from the Gregory Funeral Home this afternoon to their home near Dedham.

Mrs. Wiskus was born Elizabeth Reicker, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Reicker, at Luxemburg, Germany on March 20, 1851. She accompanied her parents to America at an early age, and the family settled in Dubuque county.

In the year 1871 she became the bride of Theodore Wiskus. A few years later they came to Carroll county and have since that time been residents of this community.

Mr. Wiskus passed away a number of years ago. The 11 children of Mr. and Mrs. Wiskus all survive. They are: Mrs. Katie Kennebeck of Lidderdale; Theodore Wiskus, of Woodward, Ia.; Frank Wiskus, John Wiskus, Mrs. Mary Soppe, Mrs. Josephine Steffes, Mrs. Anna Meiners and Joe Wiskus, all of Dedham; Mrs. Elizabeth Tillman of Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Barbara Irlbeck, of Happy, Texas, and Mrs. Rose Langrich of St. Lucas, Ia.

Two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bies of Salem, S. D., and Mrs. Barbara Kaltaman of Kansas City, as well as a number of grandchildren, also survive.

Mrs. Wiskus was a member of the Rosary society of St. Joseph's church.
