FUNERAL RITES FOR O. K. JANSSEN

Held at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden, Burial in Westlawn.

Funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon, October 14, for O.K. Janssen, who succumbed at 3:30 Monday afternoon after an illness of several weeks. Short rites at the Huffman Funeral Home in Carroll at 2 o'clock were followed by funeral services at Peace Ev. Lutheran Church at 2:30 with the Rev. A. O. Bleeke, pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Carroll, officiating.

Burial was in Westlawn Cemetery, Glidden. Pallbearers were Pete Daiker, Frank Beiter, Roy Borgeson, Elmer Peterson, Charlie Coleman, and Ernest Kruger.

Mr. Janssen, long-time resident of Carroll County, was born the son of Henry and Anna Henrich Janssen, in Germany, March 9, 1871. Shortly after his arrival in the United States he settled in Nebraska where he lived for a few years before coming to Iowa. With exception of five years, from 1908 - 1913 when he resided in Minnesota, Mr. Janssen spent a large part of his life in the Glidden vicinity. He farmed south of Glidden most of that time.

October 13, 1895, he was married to Miss Bertha Wentzel at Lidderdale. She died in 1916. February 27, 1917 he was married in Chicago to Mrs. Lena Trapp, who died in 1930. His surviving children are William, Henry and Carl of Carroll County; Pfc. Albert Janssen stationed at Fort Crockett, Texas; Mrs. Max Pahnke, Mrs. Louis Stuhr, and Mrs. Bishop Whittaker, all of Carroll county; and Mrs. Herman Stuhr of Ayrshire. A daughter, Minnie, died in 1912, and a son, Herman, died in 1922.

____________ survives two-step-sons, Rudolph Miller and John Trapp; a step-daughter, Mrs. George Luetje of Westside, and one sister, Mrs. Jans Peters of Glidden. Mr Janssen was a member of the Lutheran Church.

Death came to him at the Carroll County Farm where he had lived for the past five years.

PFC. Albert Janssen and his wife, who lives in Superior, Nebr. were here to attend the funeral services.
