Mrs. John Behrens, for many years a resident of Roselle township and a woman greatly beloved in her community, passed away at her home south of Carroll on Tuesday of last week, February 22, after an illness of about ten days with stomach trouble. Mrs. Behrens had been in poor health for about two years with this complaint, but her final severe illness was of but short duration, bringing with its conclusion a shock to the many friends and relatives.

Miss Elizabeth Freund was born at Davenport, Iowa, in March of 1860, and on June 10, 1882, was married at her home in Davenport to John Behrens. The young couple made their home on a farm near Davenport for three or four years following their marriage, then moved to Carroll county, settling in Roselle township, where they have since resided. Seven children were born to them, six of whom still survive. They are Otto, Elizabeth (Mrs. Herman Buelt), John, Henry, Angie and Joe.

Mrs. Behrens was a faithful and devoted member of the Holy Angels church at Roselle, from which place the funeral was held on Thursday of last week. The relatives have the sympathy of the entire community.
