Otto Henry Behrens, 76, retired farmer living at 418 East Second Street, Carroll, died at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 16, at St. Anthony Hospital after a short illness.

Friends may call at the Twit Funeral Home after 7 p.m. Wednesday, where the rosary will be recited at 8 and 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. Thursday the rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. by Catholic Daughters Sacred Heart 454, Templeton at 8 p.m. by the Holy Name Society of St. Joseph Church, and at 8:45 p.m. by Charles Carroll Council, Knights of Columbus.

Requiem mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church in Carroll, with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Mr. Behrens was born Feb. 22, 1885, at Davenport, a son of John and Elizabeth Behrens. He received his education at Roselle; and on Feb. 25, 1908, was married to Bernadine Klocke at Sacred Heart Church in Templeton by the Rev. B. A. Schulte. They farmed south of Roselle until retiring and moving to their present home in Carroll in 1950. Mr. Behrens was a member of St. Joseph Church, the Holy Name Society, and Charles Carroll Council, Knights of Columbus.

Surviving are his wife and the following children: Edward Behrens and Mrs. Francis (Marian) Clark, Carroll; Cyril Behrens, Arcadia; Eugene Behrens, St. Louis, Mo.; Otis Behrens, Gray; and Mrs. Gilbert (Bernadette) Peters, Manning; 22 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Herman Buelt, Halbur; and one brother, Henry Behrens, Carroll.

He was preceded in death by two children, Herbert and Loretta; two brothers and two sisters.

Requiem mass for Otto Henry Behrens, 76, Carroll, was read at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church in Carroll by the Rev. Alver Behrens, Neptune, a nephew.

Pallbearers included Raymond Klocke, Alphonse Klocke, Raymond Sibbel, Donald Behrens, John Behrens and Albert Buelt. Burial, under direction of the Twit Funeral Home, was in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Attending the services from out-of-town were Eugene Behrens and daughter Marilyn, St. Louis, Mo.; Mrs. Ed Schloemer and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Phelan, Davenport.

Mr. Behrens died May 16 at St. Anthony Hospital after a short illness.
