Everette Merle Jenkins
CarrollFuneral service for Everette Merle Jenkins, 88, of Carroll, formerly of Lanesboro, will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 2009, at the Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City. Pastor David Schaal will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11a.m. until the time of the the service Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in the Merle Hay Cemetery near Glidden.
A son of Jesse and Lottie (Faulkner) Jenkins, he was born March 21, 1921 at Humboldt, Kan. He graduated from Lanesboro High School in 1939, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
On March 22, 1946, he married Edith Washburn at Chanute, Kan.
Mr. Jenkins worked as a blacksmith and was the mayor of Lanesboro during the 60s and 70s.
He was a member of the Lanesboro United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edith of Carroll; a son, Ed Jenkins and wife Phyllis of Altoona; daughters: Sarah Hale and husband Don of Indianapolis, Ind. And Sharon Linde and husband Dennis of Fort Dodge; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Jenkins was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters; six brothers; and a granddaughter, Christy Berning.
