Mary Jo Park
December 17, 2009-Mass of the Christian Burial will be held for Mary Jo Halterman this Friday, December 18 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Scranton. Halterman died Monday after a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy.
Lector will be Ann McAlister. Organist for the Mass will be Richard Carey and soloist will be Rosemary Paulsen. Eucaristic minister will be Jan Morlan.
Friends may call at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton from 2 p.m. - 5 p.m. today (Thusday) where there will be a Christian wake service at 4 p.m.
Casket bearers will be Kevin Berger, Lou Peterson, Tony Park, Nat Halterman, Trask Anderson, and Chase Dickman. Honorary casket bearers will be John Park, Andy Park, Dylan Dickman, and Kaden Halterman. Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery near Lidderdale.
Mary Jo Halterman
Mary Jo Halterman, 54, of Bayard passed away on Monday, December 14 at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll after a long battle with Muscular Dystrophy.
Mary Jo was born February 5, 1955 in Carroll, to Robert and Carol (West) Park. She grew up in Scranton and graduated from Scranton High School in 1973. After high school she attended Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dedge. On February 19, 1975 she was united in marriage to Darwin Halterman at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Scranton. The couple lived in Bayard where she did in home day care for many years. The couple divorced in 2001. Mary Jo was later employed byPrecision Marketing in Coon Rapids. Mary Jo had been a resident of Thomas Rest Haven in Coon Rapids for the past two years. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, bowling, dancing, reading, watching sports on t.v. and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her son Nicholas Halterman and his wife Tonya of Bayard; her motherCarol Park Scranton; seven grandchildren: Trask Anderson, Chase Dickman, Dylan Dickman, Nikki Jo Halterman, Hanna Halterman, Rylee Halterman, and Kaden Halterman all of Bayard; Two brothers, Andy Park and Jon Parkof Barnum, and four sisters Terri Renwanz and her husband Bill of Jefferson, Kathy Geuss and her husband Eric of Grosse Pointe Park, Ml, Trish Monthei of Yale, Jan Kirschman and her husband of Ankeny, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents, two brothers Steven and Mike Park, and a sister Julie Park.
