Alvera Irlbeck
Carroll

Mass of the Christian burial for Alvera Irlbeck, 91, of Carroll, will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 4, 2009, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Father Timothy Johnson will officiate.

Mrs. Irlbeck died Monday, Nov. 30, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll.

Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, at Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll, where a rosary will be prayed at 4 p.m. and a Christian wake service by Holy Spirit Parish will be held at 7 p.m. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 a.m. Friday to lie in state until the time of the funeral Mass.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Willey.

Lectors for the Mass will be Tracie Barlow and Tricia Gohlke. Gift bearers will be Erica Barlow, Sydney Barlow and Allie Barlow. Eucharistic ministers will be Julia Stewart and Roberta Tigges.

Casket bearers will be Jeff Whitefield, Jason Whitefield, Brad Irlbeck, Taylor Rosonke, Pete Rosonke and Jim Steinkamp.

A daughter of Michael and Catherine (Zitzlsperger) Schultes, she was born Dec. 1, 1917, near Dedham. She spent her younger years in the Willey community, attending St. Mary School and grduating from St. Angela Academy in Carroll.

On Feb. 16, 1937, she married William Irlback at St. Mary Church in Willey. The couple farmed east of Willey. Mr. Irlbeck died in March 1952. Mrs. Irlbeck moved her family to Carroll in 1956. She was employed by General Electric Co. in Carroll from 1972, until her retirement in 1988.

She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Parish Ladies Guild. She enjoyed her family, reading, watching television, and going to Holy Spirit Adoration Chapel.

Survivors include her children: Ronald Irlback and wife Norma of Oxnard, Calif., Lois Whitefield and husband Richard of Ames, Jerry Irlbeck and wife Esther of Spirit Lake, Sharon Irlbeck of Carroll and Barb Weldon and husband Bill of Dayton, Ohio; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters: Janet Snyder of Breda, Dorothy Bruening of Carroll, Loretta Hannasch of San Antonio, Texas, and Marilyn Pletchette of Carroll; and sisters-in-law: Maxine Schultes of Carroll and Mary Lou Schultes of Dedham.

Mrs. Irlback was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; sisters: Lavine Tigges, Louise Schultes, Mary Jo Schultes, and Lynette Steinkamp; and brothers: Leon Schultes and Arthur Schultes.
