Donald Paul Irlmeier
Audubon

Donald Paul Ilmeier, 78, of Audubon, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Audubon County Memorial Hospital in Audubon.

Mass of the Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday Nov. 6, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon. Father Wayne Gubbles will officiate.

The family will be present for a rosary at 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church. Visitation will resume with family present at 6 p.m. Thursday at the church, where a scripture service will be held at 7:30p.m.

Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery at Audubon.

Casket bearers will be sons: Steve Irlmeier, Mike Irlmeier, Jerome Irlmeier, Tim Irlmeier, John Irlmeier and Bill Irlmeier

A son of Joseph and Anna (Feilmeier) Irlmeier, he was born Sept. 5, 1931, at his parents' home near Templeton. He was baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Templeton. He attended Sacred Heart School in Templeton, and then helped operate the family farm.

On Sept. 2, 1952, he married Kathleen Ann Klocke at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dedham. The couple began farming in the Templeton/Manning area, and after purchasing land at Viola Center, the family moved and continued farming until retirement. During retirement, he continued to help his sons with their operations.

He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Audubon, a charter member of the Knights of Columbus-third degree and a prior member of the Parish Council. Together he and his wife enjoyed their children and grandchildren in their sports and activities, traveling, playing cards, gardening and visiting with family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing and time spent with his buddies.

Survivors include his wife Kathleen Irlmeier of Audubon; eight children: Steve Irlmeier and friend Holly Kjergaard of Audubon, Sharon and Steve Miller of Audubon, Mike and Sheri Irlmeier of Brayton, Jerome and Joni Irlmeier of Norfolk, Neb., Tim and Linda Irlmeier of Exira, John and Jodi Irlmeier of Anita, Bill and Lynnette Irlmeier of Cumberland, Md. and Patty and Bryan Svoboda of Audubon; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Vanessa Irlmeier, Nathan Irlmeier, Seth Miller, Keely and Tim Hartschen and daughter Peyton, Nicholas and Sarah Irlmeier and children Paige and Cole, Rachel and ToddHansen and children Aubree and Lane, Tyler and Lindsey Irlmeier, Jacob and Megan Irlmeier, Katie and Justin Brodersen and son Avery, Anna Irlmeier and fianc'e Paul, Joseph Irlmeier, Brad Irlmeier; Ryan Irlmeier and fianc'ee Linda, Megan Irlmeier, Brooke Irlmeier, Jessica and Phil DiGionanni, Kyle Irlmeier, Derek Irlmeier and daughter Kaylee, Andrew Irlmeier, Michael Ward, James Svoboda, Jesse Svoboda and Mary Svoboda; his brother and sister: Irene and Alfred Kraus and Merlin and Anna Mae Irlmeier; and his brother and sisters-in-law: Toni Irlmeier, Dorothy Irlmeier, Luella Klein, Elaine Sporrer, Harry and Loraine Klocke, Leana and Donald Kalkhoff, Leona Erps, Carol and Eugene Hoffman and Mary Klocke.

Mr. Irlmeier was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Joe "Stoogie" Irlmeier, Alex and Eleanor Irlmeier, Leo and Lucy Irlmeier, Leonard Irlmeier, William "Bud" Irlmeier and Cletus "Clete" and Delores Irlmeier; sisters: Ann and Ambrose Irlbeck, Jean andEd Brosnahan and Dorothy and Bob Crowdes.
