CARL GEHLING
Carl Gehling, age 63, of rural Carroll, Iowa, died Tuesday, July 27, 2004, of injuries received in an accident at his farm home south of Carroll.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Saturday, July 31, 2004, at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. The Celebrant will be Father James McCormick. The casket will be taken to the church at 8:30 A.M. Saturday to lie in state until the time of the funeral mass. Lector will be Sister Joann Gehling. Gift Bearers will be Mr. Gehling’s four children. The eulogy will be given by Lori Gehling. Mass Servers will be Kristen Grossman, Curt Mueggenberg, and Jordan Wessling. Eucharistic Ministers will be Sister Joann Gehling, Dale Mueggenberg, and Mary Grossman. Honorary Pallbearers will be Frank Gehling, Mark Gehling, Kenny Pietig, and Larry Gehling. Casket Bearers will be Russ Gehling, Keith Gehling, Rick Gehling, Dennis Mueggenberg, Ben Mueggenberg, and Chad Mueggenberg. Burial will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll with military honors conducted by the Carroll American Legion. Mr. Gehling’s son, Doug, will blow the taps for the military honors. Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 2:30 P.M. Friday. A rosary will be recited at 3 P.M. Friday. There will be a christian wake service at 7:30 P.M. Friday by the Parish.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Gehling of Carroll; children, Lori Gehling of Scranton, Lisa Gehling of Carroll, Kim Ince of Kewanee, Ill., and Doug Gehling of Carroll; 3 grandchildren; sisters, Rita Anstoeter and her husband Louis of Carroll, Rose Ocken and her husband Wilfred of Carroll, and Sister Joann Gehling, F.S.P.A. of Hiawatha; brothers, George Gehling and his wife Lillian of Grand Meadow, Minn., Ed Gehling and his wife Lorraine of Carroll, Jim Gehling of Carroll, Bob Gehling and his wife JoAnn of Carroll, and Jerry Gehling and his wife Kathy of Gold Canyon, Ariz.; and father-in-law, Gerd Mueggenberg of Breda. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Louise Schmitz and Norma Rasmussen; brother, Vernon Gehling; and mother-in-law, Evelyn Mueggenberg
