I translated the following death notice and obituary from Der Carroll Demokrat, a German-language newspaper published in Carroll, Iowa, between about 1874 and 1920. The first article was published on Friday, 21 March 1913 and the second on Friday, 28 March 1913. Any information in brackets or notes at the end are my own explanations. It reads as follows:

[First Article, 21 March 1913]
[Heinrich Klocke]
On Sunday the sad news from Chicago was received here that Heinrich Klocke had died there of pneumonia. About a week ago he accompanied a shipment of cattle for the Chicago market, and during his stay he became sick and had to seek the advice of a doctor. He was informed that he was suffering from pneumonia, and so he went to a local hospital. His spouse and son-in-law, Frank Venteicher, were informed, and they departed immediately for Chicago. The situation of the patient had apparently improved to the point that he intended to travel home in the middle of the week, and so Mr. Venteicher made the return trip on Sunday. Upon his arrival here, however, he was met with the news of his father-in-law’s death. Shortly thereafter, he traveled again to Chicago in order to assist in transporting the body here. The funeral took place on Friday morning at the local Saints Peter and Paul Church. An obituary will be dedicated to the deceased in the next edition.

[Second Article, 28 March 1913]
[Heinrich Klocke]
We have been further informed concerning the death of Heinrich Klocke in Chicago on 17 Mar 1913. He was born in Rolfzen, Westphalia, Germany on 22 February 1842. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sister, Mrs. John Tigges, living here in the Third Ward. His surviving children are 12 in number, as follows: Mrs. Fred Pietig, Mrs. Joseph Pietig, Mrs. Frank Venteicher, Mrs. A. Schulze, Mrs. Frank Wilkins, Katharina, Theresia, Jennie, Frances, Rosa, Heinrich, and John. The funeral took place on Friday at the local Saints Peter and Paul Church. The deceased was an honest German and a universally respected and popular man. He achieved prosperity and leaves his family a considerable estate. He had already been ill for a few years, which may have contributed to his pneumonia so quickly running its deadly course. May the deceased rest in peace.
