Irene A. Bayer, 86, of Carroll died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2007, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, at Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden with Pastor Alan Miller officiating.
Casket bearers will be Michael Bayer, Steve Musfeldt, Dale Musfeldt, Donald Grundmeier, Joel Grundmeier and Les Outhouse.
Burial will be in Arcadia Cemetery.
Visitation started at 5 and a prayer service will be held at 7 tonight at Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Carroll.
A daughter of Emil and Ida (Vetter) Grundmeier, she was born April 27, 1921, on the family's farm near Halbur, grew up there, attended rural school in Washington Township, graduated from Arcadia High School then attended a business college at Omaha, Neb.
She and Russell F. Bayer were married April 28, 1947, at Carroll. They resided in Carroll and later moved to Glidden. Upon retirement they bought a lake home at Spirit Lake and enjoyed fishing and boating.
After her husband's death, she lived at the Carroll Health Center for about two and a half years.
Ms. Bayer worked at the ASCS Office in Carroll for 34 years. She also a member of Peace Lutheran Church in Glidden, NARFE and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include a sister, Dorothy; a brother-in-law, Gene Bayer, and his wife, Margaret; and three sisters-in-law: Vera Gute, Eva Jentzen and Rita Williamson.
Mrs. Bayer was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell, on Aug. 6, 2004; two brothers: Otto and Emil; two sisters: Frances and Louise; and two sisters-in-law: Mayme and Helen.
