Mrs. T. Klocke Dies Sunday at Age of 92 Years
Long-Time Resident Had 100 Grandchildren, 105 Great-Grandchildren
Mrs. Theresa Klocke, who was 92 years old last Tuesday, February 28, died at her home, 114 North Court Street, at 1:30 A.M. Sunday March 5. Her death was attributed to complications attendant to her advanced age.
Mrs. Klocke had been failing health for the last year and had been seriously ill for the past two months. She was one of the oldest residents in Carroll.
Mrs. Klocke leaves an unsually large number of decendents, including 100 grandchildren and 105 great grandchildren.
The body was taken Sunday afternoon from the Kircher-Dietrich Funeral home to the family residence, where it will rest until the time of the funeral services.
Rights will be held at 8:30 Wedensday morning at SS Peter and Paul Church, where requirem mass will be read by the Rev. L. Schenkelberg. The body will then be taken to Roselle where another mass will be offered by the Rev. L. Anthofer at Holy Angels church at 10:00. Burial will be in the family lot in the Roselle Cemetery.
Mrs. Klocke was born as Mrs. Theresia Spieker at Westphalia, Germany, February 28, 1847, one of a family of five girls, two boys. She was twenty-two years old when she came to the United States in 1869.
Locating at Newton, Ia., she was married there two years later to John Klocke, the ceremony taking place Feb. 1, 1871. Mr. and Mrs. Klocke resided in Newton for the next six years and then came to Carroll County to live on their old homestead southwest of Carroll. They were among the early settlers of this community. They were residing on their farm when Mr. Klocke died Feb. 4, 1902.
Mrs. Klocke continued to live on the old home place until 1914, when she came to Carroll to make her home.
Mrs. Klocke was a member of SS Peter and Paul's Church and the Christian Mothers Society of the parrish.
She is survived by nine children, Mrs. J. Lamberty, (Theresia), Carroll; Joseph Klocke, Vallejo, Calif.; John J. Klocke, Carroll; Mrs. Joseph Stangl (Mary), Dedham; Miss Anna Klocke at home; Mrs. Henry Reisberg (Amelia), Templeton; Mrs. Anton Hannasch (Kate), Carroll; Anton J. Klocke, Carroll; Mrs. Walter McCabe (Rose), Rochester, Minn.
She also leaves 100 grand children and 105 great grandchildren, One sister Mrs. Sophie Lappie of Carroll and one brother Fred Spieker also of Carroll.
