Rose Marie Doyen
(March 19, 1926 - May 21, 2015)

Rose Marie Doyen age 89, passed away on May 21, 2015, at the Pomeroy Care Center. Rose Marie Rosenboom was born on March 19, 1926, at Ceylon, Minnesota. She was the daughter of Henry and Reka (Doyen) Rosenboom. Rose's family moved to Manson in 1940 and she was educated at Pomeroy High School, graduating in 1944. On February 24, 1946, she married Lewis Doyen. The couple made their home on their farm near Jolley. Rose worked at Hansen Bakery in Manson and later at Hazel's café in Pomeroy. They retired from farming and moved into Pomeroy in 1980. Rose entered the Pomeroy Care Center in August of 2007. Rose was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and her circle. She also belonged to the Idle Hour Club. Rose enjoyed reading in her spare time. Survivors include her husband: Lewis; sons: Steve Doyen and Jerry Doyen, both of Pomeroy; daughter: Peggy (Steve) O'Connor of Lake City; grandchildren: Chris (Dacia) O'Connor of North Liberty, David (Bethany) O'Connor of Muscatine and Kate O'Connor Constant of Burlington; seven great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Alice Jessee of Pomeroy and several nieces and nephews. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, infant son, Thomas, sisters, Dorothy Miller and Edna Block and brothers, Vernon "Bud", Jack, Elmer and Donald Rosenboom.
