Lewis R. Doyen
(January 31, 1924 - August 20, 2015)

Lewis Ray Doyen age 91, passed away August 20, 2015, at the Pomeroy Care Center. Lewis was born on January 31, 1924, at Petersburg, Illinois. He was the son of Henry and Anna (Seehusen) Doyen. Lewis' family moved to Pomeroy when he was 8 years old. He attended country school and then high school in Pomeroy until his family moved to a farm near Jolley. He finished his education at Jolley Consolidated High School his senior year, graduating in 1941. On February 24, 1946, he married Rose Rosenboom from Manson. They lived on the home place near Jolley where Louie farmed, customed baled and had laying hens for several years. Lewis and Rose moved to Pomeroy in 1980. Louie also worked for HANSCO Mfg. as a welder in Pomeroy. He entered the Pomeroy Care Center in 2010. Lewis was a long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church in Pomeroy. He had served on the Jolley School Board, Pomeroy Elevator Board and St. John's Church Council. Lewis and Rose enjoyed going to dances and playing 500 in several card clubs. Survivors include his sons Steven Doyen and Jerry Doyen, both of Pomeroy; daughter Peggy (Steve) O'Connor of Lake City; grandchildren Christopher (Dacia) O'Connor of North Liberty; David (Bethany) O'Connor of Muscatine, and Kathleen O'Connor Constant of Burlington; seven great-grandchildren, sister Alice Jessee of Pomeroy and several nieces and nephews.
