Lois A. Voss - age 95, of Pomeroy passed away Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at the Accura HealthCare Center in Pleasantville, Iowa. Lois Arlene Layman was born August 21, 1922, on a farm near Marathon, Iowa. She was the daughter of James Franklin and Mabel (Marshall) Layman. She spent all her early life in Iowa, graduating from the Rockwell City High School in 1939. In May 1941, Lois was united in marriage with Arthur Grant Goetz and they became the parents of two children, Michael Lee and Nancy Jo. Arthur was killed in a plane crash in 1951 and the family returned to Rockwell City from Ames, where they had been living. In November 1954, Lois was married to Robert Lee Voss of Pomeroy, Iowa. They became the parents of three sons, Robert G., Scott L., and Steven T.. In 1963, the couple moved to the Des Moines area. In 1964, they moved to Ankeny. They later lived in Polk City and Alleman. The couple moved to Pomeroy in 1992. Robert passed away in 2014. Lois was a member of the Evangelical Covenant Church near Pomeroy and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a past member of the United Methodist Church in Corning and of the Salem United Church of Christ in Alleman. She was deeply involved in many service organizations including the Cancer Society, Heart Association, Federated Women's Clubs and in her earlier years, Girl Scouts and Cub and Boy scouts. Survivors include her children, Robert Voss of West Des Moines, Scott (Tara) Voss of Franklin, TN and Steven Voss of West Des Moines; five grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and sister, Bernadine Deer of Tumwater, WA. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband, Arthur, second husband, Robert and children, Mike Goetz and Nancy Goetz.
